This is a journey of exploration and discovery through the
ancient sacred lands of bonnie Scotland.
In particular, we focus on the enchanted islands of the West
and North, their history, culture, myths and folklore.
We
visit such treasures as Iona, Mull, Skye, Harris and Lewis,
and the Orkney Islands. Each
island has a unique quality all of its own with sacred sites
that inspire the mind and delight the soul. We
shall visit holy wells, stone circles, hermit cells, Druid
groves, enchanted woods, dramatic dolmens, sacred rivers,
majestic glens, and bonnie lochs, each with a story to tell.
Along
the way we shall be enlightened and entertained by authors,
historians, musicians and storytellers who will enhance our
experience of this wonderful land. Our
journey begins at Glasgow Airport at noon on June 1st.
From
there we travel to Oban via Loch Lomond, Inverary, and Kilmartin
Valley where we visit the impressive Temple Wood stone circles
and cairns. The
following day we cross the water to the Island of Mull where
we visit Loch Buie stone circles in the 'field of the Druids'.From
there we sail to the magical Isle of Iona where we stay for
two nights and enjoy the many sites of the island such as
the Abbey, St Michael's Chapel, the Hermit's Cell, St Columba's
Bay, and the beautiful twelfth century Nunnery ruins.
We
will have free time to explore the delights of this natural
paradise - with a chance to swim and picnic. We
then move onwards to the spectacular Island of Skye with its
majestic Cullein mountains. We stop by the tiny port of IsleOransay,
tour the island and visit Dunvegan Castle - seat of the Clan
MacLeod.

there we travel by ferry to the outer reaches of the Western
Hebrides, the Isles of Harris and Lewis where we meet many
megalithic monuments and experience the rugged beauty of the
mountains, golden sands and extraordinary wildlife. We
visit the awe-inspiring Callanish stone circle and learn about
its astronomical significance from the local experts Margaret
and Ron Curtis who will accompany us on a mystical journey
around the Callanish sacred landscape.

journey continues by ferry back to the mainland of Scotland
where we visit Dunrobin Castle. The following day we take
the ferry across the Pentland Firth to the Islands of Orkney
which are festooned with ancient sacred places dating back
to 4000 BC.
